Dev, having moved to Dubai from Nepal in 2007, joined the film industry in a permanent position with a gear rental company. Here he started as a trainee in the Lighting Department and over the last 15 years, through hard work and dedication, he has worked his way up to Best Boy Lighting and Gaffer. He has learnt from the industries best Gaffers and having access to all lighting equipment on a daily basis has built his knowledge and in depth understanding of lighting. Dev works exceptionally well as part of a team, has good leadership qualities and manages his team accordingly. He has a friendly and approachable nature and his command of the English, Nepalese and Hindi languages are brilliant.

His commercial work includes extensive automotive work for iconic brands such as Aston Martin, Mercedes Benz, Ferrari, and Porsche, to name only a few. Angela is an innovative, upbeat and industrious Costume Designer/Wardrobe Stylist with 34 years hands-on experience in providing designs, creative ideas and boards that are tasteful and up-to-date. She has huge experience working in the Film and Event industry with various types of activities associated with Costume Design and has worked across the board on Feature Films, Dramas, Events, Commercials, Music Videos and more. Having worked across the globe on various projects, Angela forms an invaluable member of the team.

Having recently joined the Film Industry at entry level and having completed working on his first feature film, Ambush, Adbel’s enthusiasm to learn more about the running of a film set is great. Boris Olomi

Remote Head Technician (Including Ronin)

Boris began his career as a professional motor mechanic. This led him to work on picture vehicles in the late 90s with ‘Enemy at the Gates’ is the first feature film in the vehicle department. At the time, Boris also worked at a Berlin tracking vehicle company collecting experience as a camera car driver and crane grip. The position as picture vehicle technician on ‘Bourne Supremacy’ led to international accreditation. The film ‘Syriana’ brought Boris to Dubai where he saw his chance to pursue his dream to join the Grips department. His technical background allowed him to grow quickly and he settled in Dubai. From there he gained extensive experience in all areas of the Grip department, including dolly grip, crane grip, and rigging grip to the remote head technician. His extensive skills make him adept at solving difficult technical problems and allow him to work with confidence on even the most demanding projects. With multiple feature films, television productions, and hundreds of commercials under his belt, Boris’s experience is extensive and invaluable.

Sulaman is an energetic, fit, and hard-working Grips technician. He joined the film industry in 2006 and has spent 16 years working his way through the ranks of the Gripping Department. He has learnt from the industry’s best and has applied his knowledge and skills to all spheres of work including feature films, tv series, commercials, and more. He has experience working as a Dolly Grip, Crane Tech, Motor Crane Precision Driver, Remote Head Tech, Best Boy Grip, Rigging Key Grip and Key Grip. His communication abilities and attention to detail are but a few of his strengths when working alongside his colleagues. His latest projects include Desert Warrior; R10 and Wheel of Time (S2) in Morocco.

Richard is a Cinematographer with over 10 years of experience in the film industry. He is known as a filmmaker with specialties in Aerial, Underwater, and filming with tracking vehicles, and is an experienced remote head operator. Richard has traveled across the world working on feature films, documentaries, and TV commercials.

Having dabbled in the Film Industry before studying, it was the obvious choice for Felix when it came to choosing his profession. After several years in production, he decided to pursue his passion in the AD department. Felix has developed a multitude of skills that vary from personal relations to organisation. Hard work, determination, and the ability to take other people’s methods and workflows onboard, and work with them, is a key part of working within a team or leading one. His goal is to find and deliver stability within his place of employment and be able to be proud of what he contributes.

After working in the Film Industry in the UAE for over 15 years, Kashi has a vast amount of knowledge and gained a huge amount of experience and skills through working on feature films, tv series, tv commercials, music videos, and many other forms of motion picture. He started his career as an in-house technician in the lighting department for a gear rental house, and years later went completely freelance due to his popularity. Kashi is a valuable member of the lighting department and performs his duties as a Best Boy and supports his Gaffer with true dedication.

Ana has only recently relocated to Dubai and joined the ranks of freelancing in the Film Industry here. After completing Bachelor’s degree in Theatre and Film Production and then continuing with an MA degree in Film Production in Croatia. Ana has worked many production profiles on various short films, commercials, and corporates in Croatia. Ana is exceptionally hard-working, loyal, and focused and will soon prove her worth to our local industry. With over 20 years of experience, Simon provides professional sound services for film, television, commercials, documentaries, events, and corporate productions and has the equipment and expertise necessary to provide this, no matter the location. Having the highest quality kit, as well as advanced knowledge of digital recording techniques, microphone placement, signal flow, and audio troubleshooting, combined this enables the capture of the audio possible in any situation, with full reliability, where critical audio must be captured right the first time. Based in Dubai, UAE, Simon Charles is in the perfect location to cater for productions in the Middle East as well as worldwide.

I have been in the film industry for over 15 years and have adapted different aspects from the trades I have previously been involved in, which allows me to be very versatile. My position as Floor Manager for Grips and Lighting in a gear rental has enhanced my vast knowledge of the working mechanisms of the gear. My background, having been engineering-based, has also allowed for good problem-solving skills. My greatest attributes are knowledge and people skills. I lead the team by example and follow with diligence. I am willing to work as many hours as required to see a project through to the correct conclusion.

His experience in feature films is widespread, from Spark and Best Boy roles on international features such as “Racing Stripes” “Primeval”, “The Crypt”, “Coup” and Gaffer on productions such as “Coronation Street”, “Mandela’s Gun”, and “Spud”. Brent has worked across all mediums such as feature films, commercials, documentaries, music videos, and much more. He has also worked on local and international productions and has worked extensively throughout Africa and in Saudi as a Gaffer and Lighting Rigger.

Hailing from the Bombay Bollywood Film Industry, Naseer has been in film since 1997 when he started out sparking on various feature films until 1999. From 1999 – to 2003 he moved into a Best Boy position. Seeking a bit more international exposure and experience, Nasser moved to Dubai in 2004 and joined a gear rental house as a Freelance Best Boy moving his way up to the position of Gaffer. As a Gaffer, Naseer has worked in all spheres of film including international Feature Films, TV Shows, TV Commercials, Music Videos, and Documentaries. Naseer is a well-respected and liked member of the Lighting Department.

Daniel joined the Gripping Department in 2014, after having obtained a Diploma in Information Technology and having completed his TWI (Certificate in Health and Safety). His passion for gripping, the mechanics and the structure involved has yielded him the ability to gain experience and work his way up to being a Best Boy Grip. Daniel has worked on various international blockbuster feature films, local and international TV Commercials, Music Videos, and Corporates. He is a team player, responsible, even-tempered, enthusiastic, and highly energetic, both physically and mentally.

Christopher Harker

Born in South Africa and currently residing in Dubai, Christopher has over twenty years of industry experience, with a focus on grip and rigging. His work has taken him all over the world. Including South Africa and Dubai, Chris has worked on films and commercial projects in China, Mozambique, Morocco, and Namibia, including international blockbusters and celebrated T.V. series such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Fast and Furious 7, Outlander, Blood Diamond, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Sex and the City, and District 9, to name only a few. Christopher is currently working as a Key Grip, Key Rigger, and Crane Technician operating in Dubai.

Jeremy Connell

Dolly Grip

Jeremy was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. After matriculating, he completed a diploma in journalism and began work in the media and advertising fields. He spent five years with a leading South African agency before leaving to open his own consultancy. He left this to pursue his passion in the Film Industry. He has spent the last decades as a member of the Grips department. Ten years of experience in rigging, camera movement, and integrity. Successfully completed hundreds TVCs and numerous international film projects. The last three features were Company Grip / Rigger on Desert Warrior, Key Rigger and stand in Key Grip on Route 10 as well as second unit Key Grip on Misfits.

Ian has been working internationally as a Key Grip for over a decade on productions in Dubai, the U.S.A., France, and the U.K., with recent productions including War Machine, Australian Survivor, Star Trek: Beyond, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. His full repertoire, however, also includes experience as a fixed arm and telescopic crane operator, and remote head and gyro stabilised remote head technician, on both feature film and commercial projects. Ian is well certified, including PADI open water, advanced, nitrox, and sidemount certifications, U.K. and U.A.E. motorcycle licences, and an I.P.A.F. licence, and is also a competent arc and MIG welder.

Adil is a keen, motivated, and aspiring filmmaker with a strong passion for films. After completing a degree in Architecture, followed by a course in Cinematography, he followed his dreams to join the Film Industry in Dubai. He has focused his energy on the Camera Department, learning to work with all Cameras, and has experience in VT Operating, 2^nd Camera Assisting as well as Junior DIT. Saul Barran

DIT

With training in production, post-production and a background in IT Saul became a Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) in 2011 after attending some of the earliest courses available and started on set in the UK learning from some of the best early adopters of Digital Cinematography with the Red One. Over the years Saul has worked on many forms of production, including TVCs, virals, music promos, episodic TV, corporates, and short and feature films. Having now worked on over 300 television commercials, Saul has gained extensive production experience and broad knowledge of cameras, formats, and digital workflows on a variety of high end, artistic and technical projects with many talented DOPs who have trusted in his diligence, attention to detail, on set flexibility, stamina and his strong relationship with local crew and camera rental houses.

Gareth Almeida

After having spent over 12 years as a Creative Designer, and having qualified professionally as a Graphic Designer, Gareth decided to pursue a career in the Film Industry and is striving to learn the technical side of Filmmaking in the Camera Department. His character traits of integrity, determination, organizational abilities, and people skills, along with a wealth of technical knowledge have allowed him to work in places like Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bangladesh, Saudi, and UAE, where he is currently based.

Nick Mironov

1st AD

Nick grew up in London, graduated from Film School in Canada, and started his career in his home, Russia. In 2016 Nick started 1^st Assistant Directing and has since worked on hundreds of television commercials, and music videos, done 2 movies as a 2^nd AD and 3 movies as a 1^st AD. Nick has experience working with different production aspects, including kids, animals, scenes with a massive number of background actors (from 500 to 1000), underwater scenes, u-cranes, dolly cranes, drones, explosions, fires, chasing, and stunts. With the recent instability in Russia, Nick has relocated to the UAE to pursue his career here.

Felix Alexander

1st AD

Having dabbled in the Film Industry before studying, it was the obvious choice for Felix when it came to choosing his profession. After several years in production, he decided to pursue his passion in the AD department. Felix has developed a multitude of skills that vary from personal relations to organisation. Hard work, determination, and the ability to take other people’s methods and workflows onboard, and work with them, is a key part of working within a team or leading one. His goal is to find and deliver stability within his place of employment and be able to be proud of what he contributes.

Eliska (Eli) Milackova

2nd AC

Having graduated from Film School in the Czech Republic in 2013, Eli started her journey in the Camera Department, realising her lifelong dream of action and adventure. After nearly a decade of working on all forms of motion picture, including feature films, tv series, music videos, and television commercials, to name but a few, Eli has become an exceptionally experienced and sought-after 2nd Camera Assistant. She has learnt from the best available and is a reliable team player and handles incredibly well in stressful situations in any terrain. She has worked across Europe and has now set her sights on becoming an accomplished team player as part of our Camera Department in the Middle East.

Roger Schram

1st AC / Focus Puller

Roger relocated to the UAE in January 2006. After spending one year as a VT Operator he moved into Clapper Loading and 2nd Camera Assisting and in 2011 dedicated his full time to Focus Pulling. As a popular and well-respected technician, Roger has enjoyed working with the majority of Production Houses in the GCC area as well as having had the honor of working with great international cinematographers and directors.

Reid Zandbelt

Drone Pilot

Leaving finance behind, Reid took to filmmaking. Having started with solo documentaries, and covering some of the most beautiful places around the world with a drone, he relocated to Dubai as a drone camera operator. Since in Dubai he has excelled on various movie sets, TVCs, and other commercial projects. He has gained the expertise, patience, and professionalism that is demanded by the industry. Reid’s keen eye and skilfulness makes him a great asset to any film set.

Samuel Amaral

Steadicam Operator

Born and raised in Portugal, Samuel was drawn into the magic of cinema, at a very young age, through his father. After graduating in Cinema, Television, and Advertising in 2004, he started working as a Camera Department Assistant, moving up the ranks to VT Operator and then into Clapper Loading and later Focus Pulling. By 2011, Samuel realized that he kept being drawn back to his ‘Steadicam Assisting’ days at Film School where he participated in many projects, so he took himself off the US to further deepen his knowledge in the art of operating a Steadicam with Masters such as Garret Brown, Jerry Hollway, Chris Fawcett and many more. He has since participated in International Steadicam workshops and has the latest available gear to himself. He has been working as a dedicated Steadicam Operator since then and on all forms of media; Television Commercials; Feature Films; TV Series; Music Videos and more. Samuel has most recently worked in Egypt, where he worked on several projects including a Netflix series, a Synergy series, and many commercials.

Dragan Sisa

Director of Photography

Dragan, a native of Croatia, graduated from Academy for Cinematography in Zagreb and went on to learn about colour fidelity, film, and tv post-production techniques in London. Having been an accomplished Director of Photography for over 15 years now, he has shot many film and television projects. He is highly skilled in light design and has mastered skills like gimbal operating and work based on the gyroscope (wire cam and drone) which he finds practical and fast for many on-set applications today. Dragan has worked across Europe and has most recently worked in KSA on various commercials. Dragan is fluent in English and has an ability to draw people into his creative mindset on set.

Charlie Sanchez

Charlie started his training in the Camera Department in 2012 and has steadily learnt and mastered the categories he has been in. He is a keen learner and spends a lot of his down time in the Camera Department working in order to enhance and apply this knowledge to new levels.. Over and above this, he is a bubbly personality and great team player and will always go that extra mile to make things even better.

Mathiew has always had a creative talent and followed his dreams to be part of the Film Industry in 2014 as a trainee in the Camera Department. After spending many years as a VT Operator and learning on set, he made the move into 2nd Camera Assisting with ease.
Mathiew works well under pressure, is a team player and has the ability to read his Focus Pullers.

Roland Bou Diwan

With over five years of experience as a 2nd Camera Assistant, Roland comes with a wealth of skills and knowledge to the film set. Roland derives his work ethos, as written by Marie Oliver, that work itself is an adventure and to go forwards with extraordinary energy and concentration. Having participated in commercials, dramas, documentaries and music videos. Roland continues to strive for different levels and continues to learn by the day. His enthusiasm is infectious.

Ali Ayach

Ali is a Lebanese freelance Second Assistant Camera. He has a background in audio-visual studies. Since 2016, Ali has been handling different roles within the film industry, mainly with the camera department. Although Ali enjoys mechanics, after studying Mechanical Engineering at university, he felt an immense need for a space that unleashes his creative skills. Being an active crew member in the film industry gave him the perfect balance between the creative and technical sides of his passion. With his passion, energy, and eagerness to learn, Ali thrives in all shooting environments and proves a valuable contribution to the team and the creative work, including feature films, dramas, music videos, documentaries, and commercials.

John Sheddon

John brings a European style of Focus Pulling to the Middle East. Understanding of process and attention to detail makes a huge difference. It means the DP can focus on the creative. John has experience in all forms of Film having worked on dramas in the UK, commercials in Saudi Arabia and feature documentaries in Dubai, to mention but a few. He is adaptable, knowledgeable and a team player with a brilliant eye for detail.

Tom’s creative eye has been telling underwater stories for the past 20 years in location world wide. Tom is now settled in the UAE, and whilst still travelling, his work is concentrated in the waters surrounding the GCC.

After joining and falling in love with the film industry in 1980, Glen found his 2nd passion underwater in 2009. He decided to marry the two.
After certifying as a Rescue Diver with Nitrox, he followed his passion as an Underwater Cinematographer on feature films, short films, commercials, corporate videos and tv series.
Glen has worked predominantly in the GCC, based in the UAE, but has travelled to shooting destinations from Egypt and Cyprus to Maldives, Sri Lanka and further afield, Zanzibar, Mozambique and South Africa, where he developed his talent on working with sharks.
Glen has a special interest and love of shooting with sharks.
If there was one thing that the industry could provide Glen with, it would be gills. His home is underwater.

Jeremy Connell was born in Johannesburg and matriculated from Jeppe high School for Boys. After completing a diploma in journalism he began work in the media and advertising fields. He spent five years with a leading South african agency before leaving to open his own consultancy. During this time and after he also worked as a lecturer in digital media for a prominent private university before becoming involved in the film industry. He has spent the last decades as member of the grips department. Ten years of experience in rigging, camera movement and integrity. The film premiered at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival in October 2011 and was released in theatres throughout the Arab states of the Persian Gulf in November 2011. It premiered in the United States at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January 2012.

The Bourne Legacy

An expansion of the universe from Robert Ludlum’s novels, centered on a new hero whose stakes have been triggered by the events of the previous three films.

The Bourne Legacy is a 2012 American action thriller film directed by Tony Gilroy, and is the fourth installment in the series of films adapted from the Jason Bourne novels originated by Robert Ludlum and continued by Eric Van Lustbader, being preceded by The Bourne Identity (2002), The Bourne Supremacy (2004), and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007). Although this film has the same title as Van Lustbader’s first Bourne novel, The Bourne Legacy, the actual screenplay bears little resemblance to the novel. Unlike the novel, which features Jason Bourne as the principal character, the film centers on black ops agent Aaron Cross (played by Jeremy Renner), an original character. In addition to Renner, the film stars Rachel Weisz and Edward Norton.

Furious 7 is a 2015 American action film directed by James Wan and written by Chris Morgan. It is the seventh instalment in The Fast and the Furious franchise. The film stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Djimon Hounsou, Kurt Russell, and Jason Statham. Furious 7 follows Dominic Toretto (Diesel), Brian O’Conner (Walker), and the rest of their team, who have returned to the United States to live normal lives after securing amnesty for their past crimes in Fast & Furious 6 (2013), until Deckard Shaw (Statham), a rogue special forces assassin seeking to avenge his comatose younger brother, puts the team in danger once again.

The Force Awakens is the first Star Wars film to not involve franchise creator George Lucas. Star Trek Beyond is a 2016 American space opera film directed by Justin Lin and written by Simon Pegg and Doug Jung, based on the television series Star Trek created by Gene Roddenberry. It is the thirteenth film in the Star Trek film franchise and the third and final instalment in the reboot series, following Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013). Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto reprise their respective roles as Captain James T. Kirk and Commander Spock, with Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, and Anton Yelchin reprising their roles from the previous films. This was one of Yelchin’s last films before his death in June 2016. Idris Elba, Sofia Boutella, Joe Taslim, and Lydia Wilson also appear.

Principal photography on the film began on June 25, 2015, in Vancouver,and Squamish, British Columbia, after several delays caused by multiple script rejections. Additional filming locations were Seoul, South Korea, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Principal filming ended on October 15, 2015. In March 2016, production underwent reshoots, with Aghdashloo added to the cast.

Based on the nonfiction book The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan by Michael Hastings, it is a fictionalized version of the events in the book based on United States Army General Stanley McChrystal.
